.net Newsletter - 23rd September 2006
Welcome to the weekend!
Christian HallHi there!

This week, Microsoft finally announced the release date for consumer copies of Windows Vista, 30 January, and has scheduled a 30 November press conference to announce the new operating system, along with Office 2007. The release of Vista will mark the first fully fledged update to the desktop operating system since Windows XP in 2001.

Fake YouTube video players have begun popping up on MySpace this week in an attempt to con users into downloading adware. Security firm WebSense spotted the fake YouTube players, noticing a link to a fake YouTube site that prompted a download of software before videos would run.

Finally, Vodafone has followed Orange into the broadband market. The Vodafone At Home service will cost GBP25 per month and will include free telephone calls from a landline to any other UK landline and unlimited broadband use.

Have a great weekend.
