Hi there!
This week saw the release of free anonymising browser,
Torpark. It has been created by Hacktivismo, an off-shoot of the Cult of the Dead Cow - a hacker and DIY media organisation. Torpark, which runs from a USB flash stick and is based on Firefox, uses a network of routers set up by the Electronic Frontier Foundation to 'anonymise' the traffic we generate when browsing the web.
Microsoft is taking on
YouTube, Google and Yahoo! by launching its own video sharing site.
Soapbox has started testing and will officially be available in about six months as part of MSN Video. Microsoft has said the service will work with PCs as well as Macs, and will support a variety of browsers, including Firefox and Safari. Soapbox is currently only a closed beta, but you can request an invitation on the homepage. A few days later, Yahoo! announced a partnership with Al Gore's
CurrentTV to create yet another user-generated video site, called
Yahoo! Current Network.
The Royal Mail has launched stamps that you can buy
online and just print out. When you purchase your postage, you get a unique bar code, which can be printed directly onto envelopes or labels. Payments are secure using pre-pay accounts or credit or debit cards. Let's see how this goes down with philatelists.
That's all from us this week, have a great weekend.
