This week, Flickr users were given a shock when pornographic images started appearing in thumbnail previews of people's streams. The site went offline for a few hours while Flickr investigated. Stewart Butterfield, co-founder of Flickr, said in an email: "We are committed to preventing its reoccurrence or any similar problems in the future." Well, we hope so!
Internet TV service Joost has partnered with Viacom to be the key content partner for the Joost platform. The deal will see Viacom offer free programming on Joost, including content from MTV Networks, BET Networks and Paramount Pictures. Joost has already secured deals with Warner Music and Big Brother's production company, Endemol.
Charity search engine everyclick has created a new sponsorship package that provides advertisers with the chance to support a charity of their choice. The advertiser has the option of nominating a charity to receive 50 per cent of the ad spend. Sponsorship is offered over the entire site on a search category or on a 10-day seasonal campaign basis. Everyclick currently delivers over six million page impressions each month.
