I hear quite a few designers saying that SEO is bollocks, which I always find surprising; because then I’ll speak to other designers who believe it’s vital, and who do everything they can to ensure that a site ranks as high as possible.
The thing is, I don’t think either of these approaches is right. One is constantly mindful of the effect site changes will have on SEO, while the other just assumes that a well-built website, with good content, will rank highly on any search engine.
It seems stupid to ignore the implementation of simple changes that can result in more people finding your site, yet the obsession with SEO that many designers have can be counter-productive.
