/Tutorials/ Create a reusable stamp
08/05/2007 | Filed under Design > Tutorials

This edition, Derek shows you how to create your own stamp. Get to grips with paths and create reusable custom brushes along the way
Working with custom brushes in Photoshop offers far more than the simple ability to paint with interesting or unique-looking brushstrokes. You can create a custom brush from almost any piece of art, and a brush tip preset can be used as a storage space for a stencil or reusable stamp. By clicking just once when using the brush, you create a single iteration of the artwork that was used to define the original brush tip. So, rather than painting strokes, you’re simply placing a single instance of a static image.
A reusable stamp is a handy tool when it comes to branding your site, or even watermarking individual images. Once your artwork is converted to a brush tip you can vary the size, colour, angle and opacity of the stamp when you apply it, regardless of the final destination. When you convert an image to a custom brush, it will be available in the Brush Presets picker, and also among the list of available presets found in the Brushes palette, available to you any time you wish to stamp it on an image in Photoshop!

Silly me!
I read the title a little quickly and I though this was some kind of postage saving tutorial... but it's for Photoshop. I wonder how many readers made the same (honest) mistake?
As for the tip, it's quite useful and I'll finally be able to do my own stamps instead of downloading them from the web... and archiving thousands of them on my hard-drive, just-in-case I come to need them ; )
Many thanks for sharing the knowledge!
