EDITORIAL INTRO FOR ISSUE 175

“I got increasingly wound up; at one point I’m sure steam started to effuse from my ears”

This is actually my third attempt at writing a welcome message. Earlier today I started writing about British ISPs, and ended up going off on a total rant about civil liberties. I got increasingly wound up, and at one point I’m sure steam started to effuse from my ears. But then I had a thought: do people really want to read my moans about ISPs?

So I sent what I’d written to a few friends and some guys on the team, asking for an honest opinion. And funnily enough, they told me that it sounded like the work of a ranting man whose head was about to explode. As such, it was unprintable.

When you’re writing, it’s easy to get carried away, and for those writing online, publishing couldn’t be easier. So it’s worth putting some editorial checks in place. And my last piece of advice is this: never publish drunk. Seriously, down that road only ruin awaits!
