EDITORIAL INTRO FOR ISSUE 185

“Knowing what’s going to happen in the near future can put you ahead of the competition”

We love the future at .net magazine. But I’m not talking about the future where we’re all travelling round the streets on hoverboards, while the latest news is beamed directly into our brains (although when that does happen, we’ll probably be so excited that a little bit of wee will come out).

No, I’m talking about the near future. The future that you can sense, but that hasn’t quite manifested itself in reality yet. Knowing what’s going to happen in the near future can put you ahead of the curve, and ahead of the competition. And that’s why we’ve dedicated much of this issue’s content to what’s coming up in 2009.

From the new trends in web design to the future of search, we’ve got it covered. We’ve also got a cracking feature on designing for the Xbox with Flash, and we ask our panel of experts what they see as the main issues affecting the net this year. Enjoy the issue!
