EDITORIAL INTRO FOR ISSUE 191
“Don’t give up on that domain name, because not everyone is looking to shaft you”
I’ve had a month dominated by domain names, after I decided that it was time to try and secure danoliver.com and danoliver.co.uk. The .com was a washout, as it was being sat on by a squatting motherf ... well, you know what I’m saying. Having made an offer via www.sedo.co.uk (a handy site for bidding on URLs), it became clear the .com was out of my price range. So I moved on. I’d noticed that danoliver.co.uk was being used as a staging URL. The next step was making contact with the owner. I found a phone number for the company whose site was being staged on the URL, and gave them a call. They then gave me the number for the owner, a developer named Jeffrey Parker. Jeff was a true gent, and agreed to transfer the domain at no charge, as he had no further use for it. Result!
